Community Pride fosters ownership and pride in the community through programs that demonstrate the importance of protecting the environment.
The program aims to develop a conscience around human actions and their impact on the natural world in order to raise awareness of
the problems and solutions of current environmental situations in the area.
In 2008 two environmental educators were hired to give classes and run projects in four towns.
These projects included painting murals, planting gardens, recycling and composting.
Community Pride also organizes highway and beach clean ups and worked in collaboration with other organizations to build a recycled park
in Corral del Risco.
Currently a pilot program for micro-gardens is being developed and will be implemented in the schools and in homes.
These gardens will provide another avenue of income as well as increase the nutritive value of the local diet.
